A Packed House for Centenary

2024-04-11 17:45:12

On Wednesday 27th March we celebrated 100 years unbroken service of Royal Arch Masonry.

The occasion was marked with the dedication of a newly commissioned banner and the presentation of a Centenary Charter. To present the charter and dedicate the banner we were joined by the Provincial Executive in the form of the Deputy Grand Superintendent – Elliott Chevin, the Second and Third Grand Principals – David Wilson and John Hubbard, and ‘a numerous retinue’ of APGPs and escorting officers.

The meeting was filled to capacity as guests and members, kitted out in Combat Stress socks, welcomed four new joining members; witnessed a truly emotional banner dedication and the official presentation of the charter.

And who better to oversee the occasion than our Centennial First Principal and father of the Chapter – Mike Davis who celebrates his 48th year in freemasonry and 46th year in the Royal Arch.

Guests were presented with a commemorative centenary booklet and engraved slate drinks coasters.

The evening raised £2,150 for our nominated charity – Combat Stress.

We accidentally caused a run on the Combat Stress website for their socks, which were chosen because their colours beautifully (and conveniently) epitomise the symbiosis of the Craft and the Royal Arch as one organisation.

We now encourage you to do the same as we look forward to our next 100 years in Royal Arch Masonry.

On behalf of the members, we thank most sincerely the guests and province for sharing a truly unique event in our Masonic lives. We’ll treasure the memories forever.

Happy Anniversary

Chapter celebrates centenary by raising funds for Combat Stress.

West Ham Abbey Chapter celebrates 100 years of Royal Arch masonry today by announcing that all charitable funds raised at our forthcoming centenary meeting will be donated to the veterans charity, Combat Stress. Combat Stress provides clinical treatment and support for veterans from the British Armed Forces, with a focus on those with complex mental health issues.

We have a unique Royal Arch experience planned to celebrate our centenary, including: Induction of our Centennial First Principal, Banner Dedication, Centenary Charter and gifts with great food and great company!

We are inviting all members and guests to our Centenary Meeting on Wednesday 27th March 2024 to purchase and wear the Combat Stress socks. In addition to flying the colours for Combat Stress, we think they perfectly represent the unity between the Craft and Royal Arch masonry and we hope all our guests on the day will join us in donning some ‘snazzy almond rocks’ for Combat Stress and our veterans.

If you would like to book in for this special meeting, please email: scribe.e@westhamabbey.org.uk
